Most roofing contractors ask for reviews inconsistently, at the wrong moment, in the wrong channel. Fixing all three is usually the difference between four reviews a year and four a month.

Ask at the Right Moment

The window is the day the job finishes, while the homeowner is standing in the driveway looking at a new roof. Twenty-four hours later the feeling has faded. A week later they have moved on entirely.

Ask in the Right Channel

Text message, not email. Roofing customers skew towards demographics that reply to texts far more reliably than they open marketing email. Response rates are commonly several times higher.

Remove Every Step You Can

Send the direct review link, not a link to your profile. Every additional tap between the request and the review costs you a meaningful share of responses.

Coach the Content Gently

You cannot script a review, but you can prompt usefully: ask them to mention which service they had and which suburb they are in. Those reviews carry more weight for local ranking than a generic “great job”.

Handle the Bad Ones Properly

Respond publicly, quickly, without defensiveness, and offer to resolve it offline. A well-handled two-star review frequently converts more readers than another five-star review would have.
